A Short Bio of Dave
Dave was awarded an Order of Australia (OAM) for charity work in 2012, he has been actively involved with Victorian Variety Bash, completing 25 events as an official, 2 of which went through Europe and another 2 through USA. After this he actually did 3 as an entrant. His dedication to Variety saw him active as a Board Member for 11 years, 4 as Grants Chairman and 2 as Vice Chairman.

Dave has openly stated he is a “car nut” since the age of 4 and learnt to drive at the age of 11. His first car was a 1958 MkII. Zephyr, he still owns a MkIV Zodiac and has had it almost 47 Years. He is a Foundation Member, Life Member and Now Patron of the Zephyr and Zodiac Club Melbourne.
His other cars include a rare Cadillac Eldorado Convertible, Bentley Arnage, Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II plus the Shelby Super Snake which is the Car of the Month. He is a valued member of many car clubs in Victoria.

Dave’s business interests were also based around his passion, he bought into Rare Spares in 1980, transforming this from a Cottage Industry into a thriving business, he travelled through many countries buying “new old stock” by the container load and developing component manufacturing to supply a growing direct distribution chain throughout Australasia.
He retired from business in 2016, selling his share in the business and Rare Spares as we know it was sold to Repco in 2021.
